Description: I’m most proud of how my son adapted to the challenges of remote learning. In partnership with his teachers, I helped to teach him (and myself) what a proboscis is, that ladybugs have elytra as well as wings for flight, how to read long vowels, and how to learn in new and different ways. In the process, I learned as much or more than he did, and we are both the better for it. For one show and share his teachers did every Friday, we worked together to display the life cycle of a ladybug in Play-Doh (mine top and his the bottom row) – displaying once again the spirit of hands-on learning so helpful during this school year. Children this age are sponges, and it was so rewarding to get to see him learn in real-time.
