At Cranium Academy of East Orlando, a Personalized Approach Helps Student Succeed

Victor’s journey at Cranium Academy of East Orlando is a heartwarming testament to the power of perseverance, personalized support and holistic education. When Victor, a bilingual second-grade student, first joined his class, he faced significant challenges. His English language skills were limited, and he was performing below grade level. He had difficulty communicating and fully engaging with classroom material, leaving him hesitant and unsure.

However, Siraj Sitwat, one of Cranium’s 2nd-grade lead teachers, created an individualized approach to help Victor flourish. She used visual learning tools such as puzzles, flashcards, writing exercises and picture-based reading comprehension activities. These tools helped Victor make meaningful connections and build his vocabulary in an approachable and engaging way.

Physical activity also played a vital role in his progress by allowing him to release energy, improve focus and boost confidence. After participating in these activities, he approached academic tasks with renewed enthusiasm and clarity, highlighting how movement can enhance learning.

Sitwat and the Cranium Academy staff also utilized small-group instruction and dedicated one-on-one time to further address Victor’s unique needs. At the same time, peer-assisted learning opportunities allowed him to connect with classmates, strengthening his social and language skills.

“Victor’s journey is a testament to his hard work, resilience and passion for learning. Watching him grow and overcome challenges has been truly inspiring,” Sitwat said. “We are incredibly proud of his progress and cannot wait to see all the amazing things he will accomplish. His future is bright, and we know he will continue to thrive!”

Today, Victor actively participates in class discussions, confidently completes his assignments, and, perhaps most importantly, has discovered a genuine love for learning. Victor’s story is a beautiful reminder of how persistence, encouragement, and a focus on the whole child – academically, socially, emotionally and physically – can transform challenges into triumphs.
